However, most people get panicked and overwhelmed when facing a stressful situation. But we have to learn some coping strategies which can able us, stay calm in a stressful situation.

We go through many stress in everyday routines such as job interviews, public speaking, and family issues, etc. But if we do not follow the coping strategies we will get panic as a result we fail to deal with the bad situation.

It is not possible to become a great achiever if we do not know how to cope with a strict situation.

Strategies to stay calm in a stressful situation

The following are the coping strategies that can help you to stay calm in a stressful situation.

Take a deep breath

Deep breathing is considered one of the best techniques to reduce anxiety and stress rapidly. Always practice this strategy so you can be able to stay calm in a stressful situation. It helps to reduce the releasing process of stress hormones which results in the calmness of the body.

Deep breathing is a process in which one should sit in a peaceful place and takes a deep breath in which he inhaled and hold it for a moment and then exhale slowly with eyes closed. This process gives comfort and relaxes the mind and body.

Imagine yourself calm

After taking a deep breath, imagine yourself as calm in a stressful situation by closing your eyes. Imagine that you are calm, your muscles are relaxed and you are in a comfortable place. This strategy helps to calm the mind and muscles of the body too.

Focus on positive aspects

Never think negatively in a stressful situation. Focus on the positive aspects of the situation. For example, if you are waiting for a job interview do not think that if you do not properly answer to the interviewer he will fail you.

But focus on the positive aspect that if you passed the interview you will get a new job. If you always stay positive your brain will help you to stay calm in stressful situations.

Regular exercise

Whenever you feel anxious, exercise for a few minutes which helps to release natural hormones endorphins in the body which help to stay calm and happy.

There are different types of exercises such as walking, yoga and lifting weights, etc which help you to relax. Do exercise as a habit because it also keeps your body perfect and helps the body to perform functions properly.

Also, eat a balanced diet and take proper 7-8 hours of sleep. It also helps to increase self-control and emotional intelligence.

Talk with your friends and family who listen to you and ask for advice which will help you to stay calm in a stressful situation.

Social supports gives a sense of respect. Also, discuss the problem with a mentor who will guide you and give you information to solve the problem and stay calm.

Write your thoughts

If you do not like to share your thoughts with others or if you feel shy to talk to others. Take paper and pencil and write all of your negative and stressful thoughts on it. It helps you to get your negative thoughts out of your mind.

Change your mind

Think about other, comfortable situations, if you are in an office and are anxious, go outside for few minutes and think about a relaxed situation.
