What you can do to prevent cancer? Cancer is not a new word for human beings. No one knows who can face this deadly disease. Nowadays, successful treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and much more are possible for this fatal disease. But the following are some useful ways to prevent cancer.

Don’t Smoke

Tobacco is known as a harmful chemical. It can cause cancer. Smoking not just causes lung cancer but is linked with 12 other types such as stomach, bladder, kidney, mouth, and throat etc. As soon as you stop, the better.

Eat More Broccoli

Fruits and veggies contain anti-cancer properties because they’re high in fibre and nutrients, and low in fat. Eat broccoli cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, watercress, or other cruciferous vegetables. These veggies actually protect against DNA damage that can turn cells cancerous. Or take colourful berries. Studies show they have cancer-fighting chemicals.

Trim a Few Pounds

Overweight add up to a greater chance of having cancer, especially of the breast, pancreas, oesophagus, colon, uterus, and gallbladder. Studies show that fat cells release substances that stimulate cancer cells to grow.

Don’t Take Alcohol

Alcohol is linked to cancers of the liver, mouth, breast, oesophagus etc. The more you take, the higher your risk. It is considered as one of the bad drink for our body health.

Cut Back on Red meat

Researches revealed that processed meats, like sausage, hot dogs, and bacon, have chemicals called nitrates and nitrites that are linked to cancer. And studies show that too much red meat like burgers, steak etc cause a long-term risk for colorectal cancer. So, choose alternatives for your table, like chicken breast or fish.

Get Off the too much Rest

Do you spend too much time in your bed? Moving is one of the best prevention for cancer. Exercise helps in obesity and lowers levels of hormones like estrogen and insulin. However, these hormones have been linked to cancer. At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise is very necessary for a healthy life.

Put on Sunscreen

UV rays cause skin damage that could result in cancer. In addition, it can burn the skin in just 15 minutes. Apply sunscreen before you go outside. Pick the best product with an SPF of 30 or higher. Reapply whenever you fash your face or sweat.

Get Vaccinated

Some vaccines work very well against cancer. HPV vaccines prevent cancers of the vagina, cervix, vulva and anus. The period to get vaccinated is between ages 9 to 26.

Avoid Toxic Chemicals

Carcinogens are one of the chemicals that damage DNA in your cells and increase the chance of having cancer if you breathe, touch, or eat them. Benzene, Asbestos, and radon are some chemicals with which people come into contact at work or at home. However, chemicals in weedkillers, plastics, and some home products may also be increased the risk of cancer. But it’s not possible to avoid every chemical, but always keep an eye while using products and switch to the safer side.

Take Meds if You Need Them

Some drugs lower the risk of cancers. Tamoxifen (Nolvadex, Soltamox) and raloxifene (Evista) are drugs that help to reduce breast cancer risk but may have serious side effects. In addition, Aspirin is a medicine that protects against colorectal and prostate cancers. Be very careful while using supplements that promise to keep you cancer-free. Many haven’t been proven, and some have side effects.
